That is an expired bloom. This time of year the flowers open for about a day, with a six inch spadix.Then it
retreats back again into its spathe, the surrounding sheath closes back up, the older the plant the more blooms. They dry up and fall off, they are not seeds as far as I know, I have plants over twenty years old and the only new plant came out from the bark not a dropping flower. They are very fragrant in the early morning and evening.
