So many things I'm learning about all of you! And I want to say 'howdy' to those I haven't met yet. (me waving)→ Hurray! I have a Capt. Jack Sparrow hat. Does that count? Whistling

(Seriously, 17 kids? My first MILs mom had 13 kids. Most were twins and not all of them survived to adulthood.)

Okay, here goes... I have 4 brothers and no sisters which is how I learned to defend myself. Brothers can get rough but I was pretty much a tom-boy and could hold my own. I am close with all of them except my younger brother who only speaks to one of us. We grew up in Santa Ana, CA. Mom divorced dad when I was 12 and moved us to Salt Lake City, UT. Mom was a police officer in CA but didn't go back to it here. She, instead, went to work in retail security.

I got pregnant at 17 and, shortly thereafter, got married and moved to Vernal, UT. While living there, I learned barrel racing. I got pretty good at it but never won anything. I miss my horse, Ginger. I finally had enough of the husband's...manure...and got out of there. I moved back to SLC and worked mostly fast food jobs. I quickly tired of those and went to medical assistant school with all grants. After I graduated, I went to work for a small clinic part-time. Mom got me an interview with a coworker of hers in retail and I was hired as a door guard. 6 months later, I transferred to security, fell in love with the work, quit the med assist job and worked full-time there. I got to use my medical knowledge quite often. Retail is hazardous! Sticking tongue out I took early retirement in 2008, the year my mom and dad both passed away. That same year, we lost DHs mom.

I met a wonderful man while working security. We married in 2000. He is an ex-Navy man and works at Boeing building airplane parts. We both have concealed carry permits and last year, I purchased a sweet little Sig Sauer P238 with scroll work and black pearl grips. I can hit inside the ten ring most times. I also have a Henry pump action rifle. That one gets a lot of attention from the old guys at the outdoor target range. Hilarious!

I love movies and books, mostly sci-fi, horror and superheroes but most anything will keep my attention. I have a brother living in OR who shares my passion and every year on Sept. 15, we start watching one horror movie per day. All year long, we will give each other movies titles that have gone on the Halloween list. We do this until Halloween when we will watch the same movie that was chosen earlier in the year. We get on the phone, set our DVRs to the same point and begin! Then we text each other all through the show. We have, on ocassion, gotten one or both of the other brothers to join in on the fun.

I started gardening full-time when we bought our house in 2004. I fell in love with irises because of these folks here. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Let's see, what else...

I've met Sigouney Weaver, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Margaret Thatcher and Stephen King. I own a very large collection of books I loan to no one. I have no more space for my movie collection that has recently gone over the 3000 mark. When my granddaughter comes to visit, the first thing she wants to do is visit the flowers and help me water. I say, mission accomplished.
