Hi and welcome Welcome! Gumgirl.

We could help you a lot better if you would please let us know where you are. Fill in your personal profile (upper left, the little person icon in the blue sidebar) with your city/state/country and that will give us a better idea of your climate and weather conditions. Your climate zone doesn't really tell us much other than how cold it gets in winter.

Do you keep the plants indoors through the winter? Cut them back or let them keep growing? Lots of people keep them growing and blooming right through winter in a sunny window indoors.

If you could post pictures of the plants, that would help us to help you as well.
Elaine
