I plant my peas in a block, 3 feet by 4, with 'pea brush' (tree branches) stuck among them to grow up on. I have always done it this way, so I don't know how it compares to growing them in a row up a fence. ??? I think I first read about block planting from James Crockett The Victory Garden. Does anyone else plant peas this way?
