Where are you? Possibly it's not unfurling its new leaf because you have your a/c running and it's too cold? These are tropical plants and they grow when it is warm but are dormant in cooler weather here. We have temperatures in the 90's here now and my big Birds are growing and blooming like crazy. In winter it's in the 70's or 80's and cooler at night, and they don't grow at all.

As Ken noted above, it's really not a good plant for indoors unless you have a 2- or 3-story atrium with very high light levels. I'd try putting it outside, although if it's hot where you are, you'll need to water it a TON.
