Our first year here we were overrun with hummers. And there were no plants at the house but lots of wild stuff around. I could sit out here holding the feeder and they would come eat. They would almost fly into us as we went in & out the doors! 2008 was a really bad year in the spring with lots of heavy rains across a wide area that delayed migration movement. We have never rebounded to the numbers we had then, but we have a good population. I have had very little luck with plants that the hummers like. Though I recently did purchase a pestemon and a lobelia. But the likelihood of them surviving are about zero!
