I had several really stinky ones from HD before I stopped buying bags there. Warm weather, soggy organics - yuck.

But it wouldn't matter for bark-used-as-mulch. The alcohols and organic acids would evaporate, or be washed out and diluted by rain. I think I have a lot to learn about growing vegetables in containers - like almost everything.
