I have not grown Independence Day or Texas Centennial. so I can't give you my opinion of those roses, but President Herbert Hoover is a treasure! I inherited it when I bought a house many years ago, and it's the only rose I've brought with me to my successive homes. It was already more than 40 years old when I inherited it. It's now 84 years old and is still a magnificent rose bush, producing sun-resistant and rain-resistant blooms in a blend of tropical sherbet colors -- pineapple, banana, melon, mango, and orange. The blooms are fragrant.

Here's a link to our database entry for the rose, with a few photos of blooms.
