Don't forget the state farmer's market in Raleigh, they have some good dealers there.
I wouldn't worry too much about hurricanes and/or too much rain. It happens and there is rarely significant damage unless you are in a flood zone. I would visit Plant Delights and talk with the folks there, they will allay your concerns.
