I have a similar problem with mice where they will dig up cuttings that I am trying to root, and actually nibble off the baby roots (which apparently are tasty). Very annoying. Sort of defeats the point of the operation. I solved it by putting a shade cloth frame around the vulnerable plants. If your visitor was larger, there probably is not much you can do. Maybe think about predators. Smiling
