Not sure what it was it did not seem to eat anything just dug in the pot.
Strange thing is I have several other pots with the same soil and similar plantings but only this one got hit. I do have assorted critters around me. Last year I had a few wild turkey that had a feast on my sempervivums but did not see them this year maybe they got invited to a thanksgiving dinner
I will see what happens in the next few days.
If all else fails will get in contact with Mr Fudd for some help.
