Hi Donna,
Putting plastic forks in the garden containers might help keep kitties from sleeping where you don't want. One of mine would sit in what he felt was a cool location in my fern garden - on top of a Wild Ginger, crushing it and the triangular flowers. Once the forks were installed he looked for a new hangout: This year both of the cats have found a new roosting place under elephant ears where there is lots of shade and the mulch stays cool since that bed is on automatic sprinklers that run daily (they don't bother the plants since they are 3-6 feet tall). The squirrels seem to be leaving that side of the yard alone this year too so hopefully next spring I'll have less Pecan seedlings popping up.
