The yellow color in Orange Tip and other yellow heuffs is recessive so if you use it in crosses to non-yellows the seedlings will be all green. I can show you a row of seedlings that I got from this sort of mating. I crossed it to reds, hoping to get a yellow base and red overlay, something that might approach a strong orange in a whole rosette. I've saved two of these seedlings and will self pollinate them to get back the recessives.

I HATE to cross heuffs as you have to pull apart the flower to remove the anthers. Semps are much easier to emasculate! That's why MOST of the time I just self-pollinate a special clone.
