There are a number of mini hostas that grow fast and would make a really good border in front.

'Allan P. McConnell' isn't a mini, but rather is small. But it is fast growing and easy to divide.

'Lemon Frost' (or any of the 'Lemon Lime' family) grow(s) fast and would make good borders. This is 'Lemon Frost'.

Some of the Tiara family would work and I also use a mini that's hard to find now, 'Kifukurin Ko Mame'.
