I have this plant also and keep it around for the fabulous blooms while it's inside for winter. By seeds, you are probably referring to the baby plantlets that form on the edges of the leaves.
This much more commonly cultivated hybrid is well documented to not be hardy during a normal Z8 winter in locations where winter is moist, like ours. It may be able to survive in desert climates, I have no idea. It looks like winter was mild enough for babies to survive outside where you are too. I have at least 1,000 of them in various spots in my yard this summer because winter just didn't show up this last time.
Since I've collected so many species of Kalanchoe, it would be great to know if any are hardy where I am so I would not need to devote space to saving them inside.
