Cindy - Hmmmmm .... I do like the first year blooms more, too! Love the more prominent ruffles and curls in 2014. The bloom's ruffles have kind of flattened out with subsequent years even with the recurve. But all in all, it is still a very pretty bloom. Has the color darkened too, or is the 2014 photo a late day or early morning photo? (If you remember.)
