As mentioned in a previous post, yesterday I purchased 'Nile Flower'. I noticed that the images of 'Nile Flower' in the NGA database appear red rather than purple.

Today I photographed a single flower of 'Nile Flower' first with a little shade and then in full sun, with the two photos taken only seconds apart. In the process I confirmed your observation, @CaliFlowers, that nice purples tend to photograph as red.
