There has been some discussion about allowing the user to choose what photo to use as the thumbnail in your particular list, not sure what will happen in that regard. I'd sure like it - I rather like to see the thumbnail image change as folks add new photos. Usually a close-up of the plant's bloom will have the most thumbs, although sometimes a fall or wintry pic is the highlight.
