It looks a bit overgrown now. It would be okay to prune it back away from the walkway. Pruning a Trumpet Vine is a lot like pruning a Grape vine; you can remove about 80-90% and the plant will look lovely again next year. Please know that this plant can send up suckers sending them out maybe 4 or 5 feet from the parent plant. So if your neighbor owns the property on the other side of that beautiful fence he/she may not appreciate having to control the suckers. When the seed pods form you can remove them to prevent the plant self-seeding; the seeds travel with the wind and can infest other parts of yours and your neighbors' yards.
