Yes, P&S are getting better and better all the time. If I did want to travel light, that would be the way to go. If I was just shooting for fun and memories, again might be the way to go. I sell pictures for a living. I have to have the best quality. Highly competitive out there. Just moving from a P&S to a DSLR does not necessarily get you better pictures. In fact, the #1 complaint from first time DSLR users is: Hey, I was getting better pix with my P&S. It is about lenses. The DSLR allows you to use better lenses which will produce better pix. But the kit lenses sold with many DSLR are no better, many worse than some P&S lenses. Gene
