Tate. I live in zone 8a and for the last several years, have kept some of my succulents under lights in my garage over the winter. One year, I kept my graptopetalum under a large tree and it survived OK. Last year, I tried something different and kept them on my back stoop under the roof overhang where they received some shelter from the elements. On really cold frosty nights I covered them with a frost cloth. And if we got precipitation, I put an old shower curtain over that. They survived the winter quite well. If temps got into the teens with precipitation, then I brought them into the garage. They can handle some cold, but have to be kept fairly dry, so planting them in the ground in your zone is iffy.
