As if the heat and humidity wasn't miserable enough, that seems to be when the biting bugs are the worst too Grumbling A friend of mine makes an insect repelling spray with essential oils in water. She includes lavender, peppermint, lemon, and citronella as well as others to improve the scent. If ticks are a problem she adds catnip, but leaves it out otherwise because it does smell funky.
