Chemical coat in the lung that never gets washed out. Not bad I guess for episodic..but some are addicted to it and developed chemical pneumonitis.
That is why they did away with that Vicks up the nose with the holes contraption. Now a days I thing it is all water soluble.
My mom rubbed our chest with it and then put an old wash rag on the chest..I loved it.
I tucked a Vicks-laden cloth under the top sleeve of an old pillowcase for the kids.
