OK. This is an update to my review of Joan Deerfield. I have 3 fans still on this plant although the fans are large and healthy. She produced 3 buds and so far one bloom. I would call her a mid bloomer here. This is the picture of the first ever bloom. My experience has been here that second and third blooms are substantially better so I will see when they open. This is one plant I would not be sorry to move out of the garden.

Year three and she looks like this--a fabulous bloom and color. I don't know if it was the threat, the move or needed time but finally this plant has taken off. Still not registered height, only 26", but a decent bud count of 14 on 3 way branching and a modest increase. Mid season bloomer. Sunfast and velvety and consistent color. I have to assume it just takes longer for JD to settle in.
