You know I am always into experimenting with something or the other. I have found that many of my plants (epiphytes excluded) grow way faster and seem to be healthier the larger pot I can get them into.

I got in a batch of Bletilla in the early spring. I potted them all up in 4" pots. In early June I up-potted 18 plants into 3/4 gal. pots. These were all about the same size plants. Now, about 2 mo. later, those in the 3/4 gal. pots are twice the size as all the dozens of others. This same is true when I do this with my Leopard Lily seedlings and my Euonymus 'Manhattan' rooted cuttings. I find the same thing happens when I up-pot my plumeria and air-layered ficus plants too. It appears that my adenium are doing the same thing. Those up-potted the soonest are all larger than their siblings.

The reason it's so hard to lose weight when you get up in age is because your body and your fat have become good friends.
