this might be a stupid question,
I understand locking a thread so that it dies off and there are no new posts to it and all--
but why does locking a thread have to prevent other functions???
like, say, for example, I wanted to quote someone's post near the end of that one (like queen ann's diner) to grab a photo and bring it over here to ask a question (like where is the caterpillar), why is it that locking a thread makes the quote capability, in this case for copy paste purposes, unavailable?
anyway--I found the caterpillar so I don't need to do that; but what if I ever wanted to quote butterflies for the butterfly thread or bring back someone's good id? about the only thing I can do is post a link to a post which might be marginally good enough in an 'emergency' but it is not at all the same.
I did see that I can edit my own posts, but that is the only thing that can be done once a thread is locked
