I can't help, I thought it looked like a young squash!

But I'm watching the thread and hoping you take another photo after it becomes more recognizable, for example from its fruit.

One year I threw some squash from a fruit stand Dumpster into my compost heap. Squirrels must have relocated some seeds, because next spring a winter squash volunteered in a totally different part of my yard.
