Four hours of sun shouldn't hurt the majority of hosta. I have one bed that gets sun until about 1:00 and, if watered, they are doing just fine. I think you also get better blooms if they get some sun. I think the really hot afternoon sun is hard on them, but if you keep them watered they will still do okay. Glad you were able to take the plant back. You'll love Earth Angel!
