To my knowledge, plant ID forum is trying to ID the genus...i.e. Solidago... the genus. I thought that once the genus has been ID'ed, then the 'variety', 'cultivar', could be more recognized, by those who maybe grow these, or are more familiar with the different 'varieties'.
This was the only purpose of the change. As I said earlier, there are many more eyes here, that may not see/go to the Plant ID forum. Just trying to expand the view...to your query. Kind of "spreading it around"... Hoping to find answers you're looking for.
