Well, miracles do happen, especially with plants, Rick. Keep an eye on it for the rest of the summer, and if no leaves appear when it's time to come indoors I'd ditch it.
Possibly a slug or snail found it, so I'd maybe think about putting out some bait, if you see any holes in the leaves of the other plants.
