I forget how long I've had this plant for, but when I bought it I was living in Ohio at the time with heavy clay loam soil. It didn't do much down there but when I moved to Michigan and planted it in sandy loam soil, and a good deal more sun, it and many of my other plants took off and it has increased steadily and gave me several scapes of flowers this year despite the drought. I didn't pay attention to bud count, I haven't paid too close attention to that in recent years, but I do know most of my daylilies suffered from shorter scapes and less buds and bud drop overall this year due to the dry weather, whereas a few others didn't seem affected.
