Good news. Javier fizzled. We may get a little more rain but the threat of a hurricane has passed. It's very hot and humid with very slight rain - not even enough to be called showers. BUT we got a lot of clean-up/sorting done and there won't be a lot of loss of progress on our other work. I'd begun serious clean up of the patio off my bedroom a few days ago. The threat of the hurricane sped that work up. Tony and Anita both worked today. I cooked up a big batch of dog food in case of an electrical failure. So we're in pretty good shape.

About the beach. On Sunday I went to two beaches. Got stuck in the sand at the second one. Walked home with the three dogs who were with me - probably about 1/3 of a mile and called Tony. It was about 2pm and he wasn't home. He called me back at 7 and came out with older son Luis and two other young men just as the sun went down. I got home about midnight. It was a very Mexican adventure - at least a dozen men helped and maybe two other vehicles. It was such a hot humid day that the beach had a lot of people there, even as we were leaving. When the car was finally out there was a large round of applause up and down the beach. I paid about $50 for the truck that pulled the car out and added $25 for beer for all the helpers. Sometimes I am overcome with love for this place and its people.

I would enjoy a little cooler weather and some more breeze but will not complain. In crisis mode I was able to work for several hours. Now I get to rest.

Not grumpy.
