"So, if you are hosting something & someone tells you they have to eat gluten free & will bring their own food; thank them for letting you know and tell them you understand and are happy that they plan to come.
Then everyone feels good about it, can enjoy themselves and have a good time."
Ann, I think that was a very good way to sum things up! As things turned out... they did bring their own, and also sampled (of their own volition) some of the garden veggies; the pole beans and tomatoes were just too tempting, I think
. They live in Detroit and have room for just a couple of raised beds, so they were having fun looking at everything in my garden, and I was having fun because they were genuinely interested (not just in the "how many vegetables can I take home from here?" way) and were familiar with a lot of different heirloom tomatoes and so on. The weather was beautiful yesterday (if a little hotter than necessary) and we were all able to sit on our deck and enjoy the breeze.
Ann,
to you, not only for having to deal with the celiac disease, but for giving the rest of us some insight on how to handle the situation of entertaining friends with special food needs!
