In your first pic. it appears that there may be some leaf submerged in the water? If that is the case, I'd remove that leaf. And remember to change the water every couple of days to keep it clean. It does look like a couple of new roots may already be started? I've never tried this myself, but I don't know why it wouldn't work. Good luck with it! Keep us posted!
