I just moved from NY to San Antonio, Texas. Sure is different down here, I have a small back yard which is fenced all around so I have the heat, I checked the temperature of my bed back in July, it came in at 145 degrees one foot above the surface, I brought in compost and built raised beds, the ants just love the compost! I pull a weed or spent plant I have ants all over the place, now I don't have a problem with a ant being a ant but down here they bite. I have tried Diatomaceous earth and Sevin as I'm trying to grow vegetables I don't really want to use anything stronger.
