Lyn, you reminded me of some that are indeed still perfectly clean of black spot, so that's a good point . At the end of season I will be sure to take note of which ones have remained clean. 4 varieties come to mind that have been horribly overtaken by weeds and have had badly diminished air circulation. All newly planted in a new garden spot where weeds have been terrible. I've been tending that bed and was shocked to see how great the plants look! They are Nacogdoches, Tess of the d'Urbervilles, Buff Beauty, and Dortmund. Since they're all in the same bed, I wondered if that had something to do with it, but Graham Thomas and Lady of Shallot are close by and quite spotty, so I don't think so. I'll follow with some photos of the plants I discovered growing under the weeds
