I ordered my shrimp plant from an online nursery. (stock picture at link if it shows up). It's not growing very fast. The cats stay away from it because I sprayed it with bottled lemon juice. It's about 8 inches tall, and has the original shrimps (which are actually brachts), but no new growth. I have it 10 inches below the 60 watt grow light bulb in a lamp. A couple of the shrimps have fallen off overnight. I water it well, when it gets dry, which is about once a week, and also fertilize it with Miracle Gro Blooming Houseplant food, as instructed on the bottle. I've had the plant for about a month. It was in a tiny cardboard pot, root bound, so of course I transplanted it as soon as I got it. I've read that these are "fast growing". Am I being impatient that it's not growing? I usually have a "green thumb" but don't know what to do about my shrimp plant. It's possible that it needs indirect sun, but I have a small apartment and no place for that. Maybe it's just supposed to grow outdoors only and will die. Anyway, it's an experiment -- I had to have one!!!!
