They love the heat, humidity and lots of water here, Ted. (I'm 9b or 10a) Maybe you could grow them in pots where you have your orchids?

Leaf colors are different in various levels of light, but all mine are in at least partial shade here. Even though some say "sun tolerant" I think they look kind of faded in the sun and the leaves aren't as big or lush.
