This is the Sarcoglottis sceptrodes. This is a terrestrial orchid plant and grows in well-draining potting soil. I add a large handful of medium bark to improve aeration and drainage. This plants grows well as a houseplant. Care instructions are included with each sale.
These plants are called "JEWEL ORCHIDS" because of their colorful, jewel-like leaves. The flowers look just like green dragons! This plant flowers in the spring and in the right conditions, will bloom into the early fall. This plant is growing in a 6" pot. Leaf tip to leaf tip may be up to 12" wide but unlike most of the terrestrial orchids, these plants won't get over 8-10" tall . THESE ARE BIG PLANTS AND AS OFTEN AS NOT, THERE ARE 2-3 PLANTS PER POT.
