DND I noticed the same thing on some of the first pods I picked. I thought it was from the rain getting into open pods from thunderstorms. But the later pods are much better. Seed counts are down though. I've never gotten so many 1 seed pods. That must be from our drought because I know some of those pod parents are typically very fertile.
Spent over an hour this morning packaging up seeds. Have spinach, kale, geum, forget-me-nots & a couple others. Still more to do though!
