I live in the Fingerlakes region of NY and the "soil" here is gravel and clay. The recent drought notwithstanding, I have had trouble with some of the trees I've planted "shrinking" rather than growing...
The vegetables are going like gangbusters in a mixture of cow manure and compost. I also added calcium (lime) and greensand to them and it seems to have done the trick. Is this safe for the the trees? They are mostly saplings and seedlings, BTW...
