All my peppers are really doing well this year. I planted half in pots (Big Bertha and Quadrato just turning red) half in earth boxes (Anaheim and Early Jalepeno are pumping out fruit) and the other half (just checking if your'e awake) in the raised beds (many over 4ft tall - Golden Treasure reached 5 ft!).
I want to talk about ornamental peppers today, though. I've tried several in past seasons, the one's I liked best were Fish peppers. A nice variegated leaf and you can cook with the spicy fruit.
This year I tried Sweet Pickle (yes peppers), and it is my new favorite (see pix). Colorful fruit in shades of yellow, orange, red and violet that stick up like Christmas tree lights demanding to be noticed. The plants are a little over a foot high and wide and grow well in 1 gallon pots as well as the ground. No heat, but despite the name they don't taste sweet, just peppery. I haven't cooked them yet, but have out up a few raw in salads to add some color.
