Have you tried wintersowing baptisia? I was lucky to get 4-5 of them to grow last year. That was my first time planting them, also.
Bxn, that blue flower is VERY pretty! It's interesting to try older seeds, and I think if they have been stored well, there is not much of a problem, but I think that when trading, I prefer a more recent seed, just to be sure :D
