I used to dig daylilies with a shovel much to the dismay of the poor daylily. Sad The only digging / dividing tool I use now is a garden fork. The tines are much easier on the plants as it doesn't break the roots like a shovel and brings up much less soil. I have this one from Agway

Love, love, love old garden tools; wish this place was in the US.

My hubby recently installed a couple of these 'Fast Track' Storage rails.
He had enough of my disorganized garden tools......

And, I purchased a bucket caddy for carrying my hand tools around the yard. Love It. :)

On my wooden handle tools, I use boiled linseed oil every fall and spring.
Take care of your tools, they'll take care of you. Smiling
