So I got back outside today to re-examine the mystery plant lol.. You guys were right! The vine w the flowers are a completely different vine from the one that the fruit are growing on.. The vine has some itty bitty thorns on it, they don't hurt at all & the texture of the outside of the fruit is completely smooth.. I've attached some pics of some of the babies & some of the more mature ones.. These do have a whiff of cucumber.. I can totally smell it.. Here's some pics..
