I have mine in pots while in bloom, then put them into the ground for the summer. In fall, after the first leaves start to turn yellow, and before the first frost, I pull them up, clean the bulb part, put them in a paper bag with the green leaves sticking out and let the leaves die. I keep them in the cool place. After the leaves die, i trim them off and put the bulbs in my fridge. Once a month I take the bulbs out and set the root area in some water for a few hours, then put them back in the fridge until time to bloom again.
