Nice flower SGB. The beetles in the photo are called tribe asclerini or False Blister Beetle. If one lands on you and you squash it or even brush it off it has a chemical in it that will cause a blister on your skin. They are considered pollen feeding insects and eat a wide range of pollen. They are very common and found in almost every state in the US.
