You might almost be right to class it with malathion (an organophosphate insecticide that is toxic to humans, but less so than the organophosphates that were developed to be nerve gasses.)

If you had not said that you're OK with malathione, I would have said "never put Jeyes fluid in soil that vegetable roots will touch!"

But if you'll eat something that was sprayed with malathion, well, Jeyes fluid and Cresol are not as toxic as THAT !

Among other things, it contains "Cresol", extracted from creosote. Methyl phenol, (yes, like phenol), another toxic chemical.

"Harmful in contact with skin and if swallowed. Irritating to skin. Risk of serious damage to eyes. May cause sensitisation by skin contact."

--------
"It is not known what the effects are from long-term ingestion or skin contact with low levels of cresols.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has set a permissible exposure limit at 5 ppm (22 mg/m3) over an eight-hour time-weighted average, while the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health recommends a limit of 2.3 ppm (10 mg/m3).[6]

A recent study, suggests that cresols are responsible for the formation of Multiple Sclerosis, in lab rats, at least. They are looking into the human connection as well. [7]"
