I don't think it's overly dangerous - I've got some growing in my yard and our dog has never gotten into it. I think most dogs can pretty much figure out what's edible and what's not. Of course, that's not to say she's a genius; she's been messing with garter snakes all summer. (we seem to have a bumper crop of them this year for some reason.) Not to worry about that, but we do live in rattlesnake country and I'm pretty sure she doesn't know the difference. Thank goodness there's a vaccination for rattlesnake now, we get her one every year just in case.
