It can help to use a diet tracker, too. When I first started to count fat and salt, I used one and found it helpful. Now I just do a few days now and again. The one I use is myfitnesspal.com. It's free online and there is a good database to consult for portion size, calories, fat, etc. However, you can pick which nutrients you track. It also lets you keep track of exercise.
